DROGBA MAY RETURN

Chelsea manager José Mourinho has hinted that Didier Drogba may return to the club where he had the best spell of his career, but he does not know whether the Ivory Coast international will return as a player. Drogba is regarded as one of the best Chelsea players in the history of the club. During his eight years at Stamford Bridge, he demonstrated incredible quality to score 150 goals that has put him close to the all-time scorers at the club. The 35-year-old was brought to the club by the manager José Mourinho, who has returned for a second spell at the West London outfit.

Mourinho enjoys a great relationship with Drogba and he has not been hiding this fact. Drogba left Chelsea when he was still at the top of his game, as he had helped the club win the Champions league with his final kick of the ball. He is now with Turkish club Galatasaray and is once again looking to become one of the best strikers in the world. Mourinho has said that the young players at Chelsea should take the inspiration from Drogba. He has also talked about the possibility of the Ivory Coast international returning to the club in some way, but probably not as a player.

“Drogba is worshipped in this club and this is perfectly normal. I think one day he’ll return to Chelsea. He is a very important player in Chelsea’s history and will always be in the memory of the fans, the management, the owner and his team-mates. Didier will have a future at Chelsea. As a coach? I do not know,” said the Portuguese manager. Despite being 35 years of age, Drogba still continues to play football at the highest level. It may be at least a few years before he retires from football.
