DROGBA PRAISES GIROUD FOR ATLETICO STRIKE

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba was delighted with the performance of Blues attacker Olivier Giroud in the Champions League last 16 first leg clash away to Atletico Madrid. Giroud scored with a beautiful overhead kick to give Chelsea a 1-0 win away from home over Atletico Madrid. The two teams meet again for the second leg next month and Chelsea are in a very good position as they already have an advantage over their Spanish opponents.


At the end of the game, the official Twitter account of the UEFA Champions League tweeted that Olivier Giroud is the only Chelsea player to score at least six goals in the Champions League since a certain Didier Drogba in the 2011/12 season and the tweet brought out an acknowledgement response from Ivorian football legend Didier Drogba, who was delighted for Olivier Giroud. Didier Drogba was instrumental to the only Champions League trophy in the Blues’ history won at the end of the 2011/12 season.
