OSCAR REMINISCES ABOUT DROGBA AT CHELSEA

Brazilian attacker Oscar had nice things to say about Ex-Chelsea teammate Didier Drogba during his recent interview with one of theleading newspapers in England. Oscar and Didier Drogba shared the Chelsea dressing room for justone season and it was enough for Didier Drogba to leave a lasting impression on Oscar as he pointed out during his exclusive interview with The Guardian. Oscar, 29, plays his club football for Shanghai SIPG in the Chinese Super League and has revealed that he wants to return to Chelsea before his career ends just like what Didier Drogba did in 2014.

Didier Drogba had left Chelsea in the summer of 2012 after he emerged the hero of the Blues’ one and only Champions League triumph till date. Didier Drogba scored a bullet header in the final few minutes to take the 2012 Champions League final against host team Bayern Munich into extra time via a 1-1 scoreline at the end of 90 minutes.

Didier Drogba went on to score the winning penalty in the shootouts after the clubs failed to add to the goal tally. He moved to Shanghai Shenshua FC of China that summer and played their twice before returning to Chelsea in 2014. According to Oscar, Didier Drogba was initially given the number 8 shirt won by longtime Chelsea teammates Frank Lampard before he left in the summer of 2014. Didier Drogba didn’t hit top form in preseason and that prompted him to exchange with Oscar for his favourite number 11 shirt. He had won the number 11 for the majority of his first spell at the club between 2004 and 2012. Oscar was signed by Chelsea in 2012 and was handed that number 11 shirt but he didn’t have any problems giving the shirt back to Didier Drogba, who won the Premier League title with Oscar for Chelsea in the one and only season of his second spell at the club.
