Didier Drogba has been in the news since he took up the vice president role in AFI. Currently, he has announced his resignation from this post, accusing the body of not taking adequate action on certain issues. He has sent an open letter to concerned media authorities. In that, he has stated that inaction on the part of the Footballers Association or AFI was the reason for his resignation. He found that the association was not responding to the expectations and needs of the players. The association should be defending the interests and rights of the owners.

Didier Drogba has mocked Ex-Chelsea teammate Willian after the Brazilian international cancelled his Arsenal contract to return to his native Corinthians earlier this week.
Ivorian football legend Didier Drogba aimed a jibe at Willian in a joking manner as he told the winger to return to Chelsea. Drogba told Willian to go back home (Stamford Bridge) in his reply to the farewell message posted by the Brazilian winger on Twitter. Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has hailed Manchester United duo Amad Diallo and Eric Bailly following their participation in the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The two United stars were called up to the Ivory Coast men’s football squad and they played their part in helping the French country reach the quarter-final of the competition but were unfortunately knocked out by Spain after extra-time as they played out a thrilling 2-2 draw after 90 minutes. Bailly scored the opening goal of the game but the Spaniards found the back of the net and forced a 2-2 draw which took the game to extra time where they played for another 30 minutes.

However, it looked like the Ivorians let their guards down too easily as they started conceding goals too easily. They conceded three goals in extra time and the match ended in a huge 5-2 defeat, meaning that they were knocked out of the competition, allowing Spain to progress to the next stage of the men’s football tournament.
