The best striker of Montreal Impact Didier Drogba, who has been the top scorer, will be rejoining his team next week after his recovery from an injury.

The 38 year old striker left the stadium in the 70th minute wherein there was a draw of 1-1 against the Philadelphia Union. However, Drogba scored the goal of Montreal in that game.

The coach of Montreal Impact, Mauro Biello said that Drogba has played several games in recent times and it was a game that was tough to cope with rainy condition. Didier made a late entry to the season, but achieved 4 goals and 3 assists in 7 games in this season. The player has scored 11 times in all 11 season games in spite of joining Montreal Impact late in the last season. Dominic Oduro who achieved 4 goals and 4 assists will be chosen to play as a replacement to Drogba along with Ignacio Piatti.

DIDIER DROGBA LEADS ATTACK THAT SENDS IMPACT TO TOP OF THE TABLE

Montreal Impact striker, Didier Drogba, led the resilient attack of the team that forced a draw with Columbus Crew SC despite their lead.

The draw sent Montreal Impact to the top of the table. Columbus were sitting pretty while holding a three-goal lead early in the second half at MAPFRE Stadium but the Montreal Impact mounted an impressive comeback to grab a share of the points in an improbable 4-4 draw.

Kei Kamara scored the first in the 16th minute for Columbus but the Ex-Chelsea centre forward assisted Ignacio Piatti as he equalized for Impact ten minutes later. Before the first half ended, Kei Kamara scored in the extra minutes sending the hosts into wild jubilation.

The second half started with the 2-1 score line but changed very quickly in the 48th minute when Federico Higuain (Napoli’s Higuain elder brother) scored his first of the game. The goal increased the lead for the hosts and nobody would have expected what happened next as all was well for a deserved victory.

In the 53rd minute, Crew SC won a penalty and Federico Higuain took the kick and converted but there were arguments as Federico Higuain didn’t allow Kei Kamara score his first career hat-trick. Same Kamara had been confirmed to be traded by MLSSoccer before Wednesday’s MLS trade deadline.

Manager Gregg Berhalter admitted at Tuesday’s training session that there’s plenty of interest as Wednesday’s MLS trade deadline approaches. He said: Read more »

DIDIER DROGBA EXCITED AFTER HIS FIRST GOAL AGAINST CHICAGO

Didier Drogba spoke excitedly to reporters after his first goal this season against Chicago in the Major League soccer. The 38-year old Ivorian had only played as a substitute twice in his first six weeks of the MLS season, Didier Drogba is hoping to start his first match of 2016 when his Eastern Conference-leading Montreal Impact host Canadian rivals Toronto FC this weekend.

“I’m improving. It was good to play those minutes, but now I need to push in the training sessions to make sure I’m ready to start.

“Maybe not 90 [minutes], but at least start and play 60 or 70. It depends how long I can rely on my legs,” Drogba said.

Drogba played for English giant, Chelsea FC after his switch from Marseille for 38.5 million Euros. He played from 2004 till he left on a high in 2012. He had a brief stint in China before moving to Turkish side, Galatasaray. Jose Mourinho gave him an opportunity in the 2014 season as they linked up again successfully before the centre-forward moved to MLS side, Montreal Impact.

The player has been battling a chronically sore knee since the preseason. The club decided not to play him just to be safe especially on artificial turf. This effectively ruled the striker him out for four of the new season’s first five games.

Drogba made his debut off the bench this season in the game against FC Dallas, playing the final 20 minutes of the 2-0 loss. Last weekend in Chicago, he entered just after halftime and scored a spectacular equalizer in Montreal’s 2-1, come-from-behind win.

Since arriving in July last season, the striker has 12 goals to his credit. Read more »

Morten Olsen will be ending his 16year long managerial stay with Denmark after the 2016 Euro’s

Morten Olsen began coaching the Danish national football team back in 1999 as he replaced Bo Johansson and a few years later Olsen managed to push Denmark to the qualification for the 2002 FIFA World Cup and they managed to make it into the round of 16 where they had to face off with England and ultimately lost 0-3.

Denmark’s Morten Olsen said: “After 19 years as a player and 16 years as coach, it is an emotionally delicate decision to take. I feel good about it, and there are two reasons for that: I do not want the distraction of people discussing ‘is he staying or is he going?’.

And the DBU will get more time to find a replacement. Now we can all focus on what it is really about qualifying for the final tournament in France. I am looking forward to the last 16 months. We have a fantastic spirit in the team, and a fantastic staff around the team. Everyone knows it is not a one-man show.” Read more »
